3 Things To Do Before Putting Your Condo On The Market

Posted on: 4 January 2017

Before you list your condo for sale, here are three things that you need to do to prepare your condo for the marketplace.

#1 Get Rid of The Clutter

The first thing that you need to do is get rid of the clutter in your condo. Having belongings shoved into every cabinet so that it is overflowing and using up every square inch of your condo will create the impression that your condo is not big enough. It will give buyers the idea that your condo is not going to be enough space for them.

The best thing to do is to go through the clutter and get rid of it. If you don't want to get rid of the clutter, pack it up and put in storage for when you move into your new home. This will help you get a head start on packing and it will make your home look more spacious and appealing to potential buyers.

#2 Get Rid Of Personal Items

As you remove the clutter from your home, get rid of really personal items. You want potential buyers to picture themselves living in your condo and filling it up with their own personal belongings. If you have pictures up of your family and friends and inspirational quotes, take them down and put them in storage. This will help new buyers picture their life instead of yours when they look at your condo.

#3 Change The Smell

Next, you are going to want to change the smell in your apartment. You do not want your condo to smell like pets, nor do you want it to smell musty. You want your apartment to have an appealing smell that will make your apartment smell great without trigger allergies in potential buyers.

To change the smell, you are going to want to clean the apartment thoroughly. You may want to hire a professional cleaning team to assist you. You are going to want to make sure that you deeply clean your bathroom and kitchen so that it smells great.

If you have pets, you are going to want to have your carpets and furniture professionally cleaned to remove all pet smell, and potentially board your pets while your condo is open for viewing.

To create a pleasant smell throughout your home, plug in a few air fresheners throughout your home a few days before it will be open for any showings. This will help create a subtle and pleasant smell throughout your home.

To get your condo ready for potential buyers, focus on de-cluttering and depersonalizing, then clean up everything and make it smells fresh. Try to create an environment that allows potential buyers to envision themselves buying and living in your condo.
